2016 Southcliff Black & Blue Classic
The Southcliff Black & Blue Classic returns on Saturday, September 3, 2016 with two totally redesigned race courses that eliminates the long climb on the main paved road. Both new courses include much more trail and have been lengthen some so the Blue course is now 3.1 miles and the Black, 6.8 miles. Both courses are entirely contained within the private development of Southcliff.
What hasn't changed are the amazing views, gourmet post-race lunch and beer, and the most generous awards in the area.
This race is on Labor Day weekend so if you are from out of town, plan to enjoy a weekend in amazing Asheville with our famous food, beer and music.
LOCATION:
Southcliff is located approximately 5 miles south of Downtown Asheville on Highway 74.
RACE START:
The Black Race will start at 9:00 AM and the Blue Race at 9:05 AM at the gatehouse.

COURSE(S):
Both courses are mostly trail (think a better version of Mountains-to-Sea) with some gravel road to attach you to the trails. Each races starts with a downhill section on pavement to separate the field before hitting the trail.
The revised course maps are now available for viewing. We are working on elevation charts.
PACKET PICK UP AND LATE REGISTRATION:
Saturday, September 3 – 7:00-8:45 a.m. – Southcliff Sales Office
OTHER STUFF:
Each pre-registered runner will receive a long-sleeve race shirt. Walk up registrations is based on availability.
POST-RACE ACTIVITIES:
Post-race party includes a catered lunch and beer.

Southcliff is famous for its awards. The top finishers in each race receive a custom piece of furniture from Appalachian Designs. The winners of the Black race will receive a custom locust chair and the winners of the Blue race will receive a locust end table.
The top three in each group, male and female, will win gift cards to an area retailer ($30 for 1st, $20 for 2nd, $10 for 3rd). The age groups in both races are: 15 & Under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80 & Over.
Please plan on being present for the awards ceremony or make arrangements for someone else to pick up your award. Awards will not be mailed.
TIMING
Times will be based on gun times. Because of the intimate nature of the race, we will not be using timing chips.
PARKING
Race parking will be in the Southcliff community near the main lodge. Members of the Fairview Fire Department will be there to direct you upon your arrival.

Southcliff Asheville has a NO REFUND policy. However, we do offer partial discounts for those canceling during our cancellation periods.
