People and Stormwater Ecosystems

Transition Asheville's Social on Dec. 8, 2014 at 6:30pm-8pm at St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 337 Charlotte St. has invited Tim Ormond of HydroCycle Engineering. Tim Ormond has brought innovative and sustainable ways of dealing with stormwater to the Town Hall in Mars Hill, creating a demonstration project incorporating permaculture design principles. The planning and design process addressed how to sustainably manage stormwater and benefit water quality while also providing additional benefits to the local community. “Human connections considered in the design include hands-on education and research opportunities, recreation, employment and food production.” The project will be presented in the context of a general discussion of stormwater management and a new paradigm for human stormwater ecosystems.
