A collection of short fiction from six decades of local author Madden’s career, The Last Bizarre

Tale has earned him comparisons to Flannery O’Connor and Carson McCullers. David Madden’s

recent novels are Abducted by Circumstance and Sharpshooter: A Novel of the Civil War, but he

is the author twelve books of fiction in addition to nonfiction, literary criticism, librettos, radio

plays and more. His previous novel, The Suicide’s Wife, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and

made into a movie.
