"What is sustainability, and how can we make it happen here in Asheville and Western North Carolina? Find out at Asheville’s first (taste of a) Bioneers conference, hosted by the Lenoir-Rhyne Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville.
This free event, sponsored in part by New Belgium Brewing, will feature: 1) panels of local leaders discussing sustainability, 2) renowned speakers on sustainability from the national Bioneers event, 3) conversation, 4) food and drink , and 5) inspiration for local action. Some of the beamed-in speakers from the national event include: Bill McKibben speaking on the climate fight, Nikki Henderson speaking on food access in underserved communities, Michael Brune speaking on emPOWERed, Sandra Steingraber speaking on the Whole Fracking Enchilada, Carol Jenkins speaking on The Public Square, Gretchen Daily speaking on harmonizing people and nature, and Paul Hawken speaking on Regeneration.
Some of the local panelists include representatives from: Asheville Grown, Ashevillage, Blue Ridge Sustainability Institute, Blue Ridge Biofuels, City of Asheville Office of Sustainability, Just Economics, Sierra Club, and several others, including independent speakers from the area."
