Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival

23 Oct 2009

The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival will return to Asheville for a third time on Friday, October 23rd at UNC-Asheville. The Asheville festival will feature a selection of films from the largest environmental film festival in the United States, held in Nevada City, California. The 2009 Asheville festival will include a series of short environmental films from around the world on topics including: global environmental justice, the impact of energy production, inspiring youth activists and the struggle to keep water affordable right here in the USA.

Clean Water and UNCA’s Student Environmental Center are partnering with “350.org” to get local people involved in these important issues and encourage people to participate in an international day of climate action in Asheville on Sat. Oct. 24th. Learn more about local climate events at: asheville350.org “Most people don’t realize that the energy industry has an enormous impact on NC’s waters. Come get inspired by the films, and have fun taking action the very next day!” said Gracia O’Neill, Assistant Director of Clean Water for NC.

The Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival takes place at 7pm on Friday, October 23rd, at UNC-Asheville. Tickets are $10 or $5 (with Student ID) and will be available after Oct. 1st at UNCA Student Environmental Center office (Highsmith Union), Diamond Brand Outdoors (Arden) and Clean Water for NC (29 ½ Page Ave., downtown Asheville).
